When would my bitch be due - double mating

I have a cocker spaniel bitch and the cocker dog - they run together and it was an intentional breeding.

She came into season and mated for two days running, she then went 'off'. One week later, I noticed the dog being attentive again and once more they mated for a couple of days - now which date would you take as conception? Or is it just waiting to see.

She is definitely pregnant, but on which occasion?

I would guess at the second cos I don't think she would've still been receptive if she took first time BUT...............

how many days after she first showed sign of bloody discharge did you breed her for the first mating and the second mating?? usually the pro-oestrous part of the cycle lasts around 8 days (this is the bleeding bit) and then oestrous starts (when she is sexually receptive and also fertile)...
so depending on how many days the matings were after she started bleeding then it could probably be worked out which mating achieved the conception??

also is this her first litter as the day into the cycle in which she is fertile could be calculated if so??

If all bitches had read the book then the optimum time for fertility is approx 10 - 13 days from beginning of season. But I have had a bitch mate on the 23rd day of her season and produce a litter

You can also I believe have a double conception when a bitch will hold to each of 2 matings even though they are a fw days apart although I have never experienced this. Not much help to the OP I know, you are just going to have to work on 9 weeks from the first mating and if she doesn't whelp at that time then work from the second mating.

You should always calculate from the date of first mating.

I am assuming she took on the first mating as she is now huge and due next monday. waddling around quite heavt. Just an unusual way for a mating to go. She is a maiden - perhaps she just likes sex?
