The dreaded cough..what shall I do..I'm hoping it is just a viral thing but should I get the vet????
My yearling started with it about 1 wk after he arrived. He's come from a dubious back ground I believe, so could have brought it with him. He was stabled but is now out 24/7 and is eating and acting normally. No temp. and is happy and alert. He had quite a bit of nasal discharge when I 1st had him and it seemed to disappear quickly once he was out 24/7. But I noticed today as he was cavorting around a new paddock that when he stopped he had a really deep, dry cough and he had some more nasal discharge, (its white/clear stuff.) Should I get the vet or does it sound like just a viral thing to you??
I don't want to be a worrysome pest to the vet but also don't want to leave the yearling open to infections which may do him harm...opinions please!

Yes I would. Secondary bacterial infections can complicate viral infections and cause damage to the resp system. Also the inflammation caused by the virus within the resp tract may cause quite a bit of damage and i would be looking to get that under control.
