does your horse wait for you or head for the nearest exit?

D heads straight for the nearest exit

but Monty stands and waits

He stops dead still next to me, looking down in a confused manner as if to say "I'm nearly as wide as I am tall - how on earth did you manage that?!" He doesn't like it when I fall off.

Never fallen off Chloe, but I suspect she'd stand and wait

I've only fallen off Meg jumping, and she stopped both times and looked at me in surprise

My old horse b'ggered off back to his stable over a mile away when I fell off out hacking

If we're in the school he waits for me. The only time I came off him hacking in an open space he took off across the field, did a tour of the village and galloped down the lane home leading a convoy of 3 cars and a bike!

ive only fallen off Frankie once, and he stood there looking at me. it was in the school though, and i think if i fell off in the wide open countryside he might have other ideas!!

My old horse legged it every single time. Once we were at a local show and he legged it out of the show ground and trotted the two miles back to the yard..... could have killed him!

Mac would hover a little way away , grazing if there was the chance. You had to go and fetch him back very carefully or he'd just trot off a short distance away again and then that would be the case until you got him back to his stable!

Atty - touch wood haven't tumbled off yet so no idea. Think he'd scuttle of a distance and shake in the corner.

The first time he legged it (but that was when I'd just got him) and being a baby horse I think it frightened him! The other couple of times (I know there's been a few!!) he's stopped and waited for me, thankfully!

My horse finds the nearest patch of grass and starts eating, whilst keeping a close eye on me in case he gets told off!!!!!

W stays put with a look of "Ooops, sorry". He has actually been known to throw a massive spook, stop when he feels me unbalanced and shuffled back under me so's I haven't come off, bless im!

the 2 horses ive fallen off in the last 2 years, twice my share mare and once my new boy (learning curve I like to think) have both been so shocked and panicked theyve stood stock still and stared down at me! Mind you, I try and keep hold of the reins to stop losing them somewhere.........

All of mine just stand and wait with me! Spider and Dexter are so well behaved and well mannered they wouldnt dream of running off I dont think.

My old horse Jack though used to throw me off and leg it to the nearest exit! And then I would get eliminated when SJing at a BE event as he would bronc throw me off and run out the gate! And apparently if they run out of the ring your eliminated - you cant get back on!

I have mastered hanging on to the reins whenever possible on J, as he does laps around me with his tail in the air, snorting - I think he likes the fact that everyone looks at him!!
The mares both run a short distance then stand and shake, bless them. We think both have been physically punished at some point before we had them for their riders coming off. Luckily don't come off my old girl too often these days as she only usually hacks/does flatwork!

Baron just plods off to the nearest grazing point, although 2 out of 3 times I have managed to keep hold of him. Friend has fallen off twice and he just goes off to stuff his face.

Freya tends to b*gger off - not far thankfully and she'll just stand there until I get her. I came off XC and badly twisted my ankle, so I think if she'd not let me catch her, I'd have left her there!

When I fell off Fudge and knocked myself out and broke my ribs he stayed next to me even though the other horse we were with was on teh other side of the field we were in. Lady runs off though, but usually only as far as the nearest horse/person/patch of grass.

Little Section D runs to nearest person he can trust, buries his head in their stomach and then stands there shaking - which makes it difficult to run over and help the faller - he's been badly abused in his past and is always terrified of what might happen as a result.

Big Section D stands still and waits.

AA mare has only been fallen off once and she stood still and prodded my daughter with her nose as if to say "what on earth happened there?"

I've fallen off mine twice, the first time I'de only had him a couple of weeks and he decided he have a trot around to check out the scenery. The second time was also out hacking and he stood stock still, snorting at me in a very surprised manner.

When I had my bad accident I was just on the yard and oliver ran off to the gate that leads to his field but then walked back down to me but when I use to fall off him in the school he use stand next to me and look at me as if to say what are you doing down there you silly mum
