When you go on holiday what do you do with your horses??

My friend looks after her, we have a kind of livery deal anyway. I worry that if something did go wrong, I wouldn't be with her, but I never worry about the care she's getting, as I trust my friend totally and know she would do what's best for her.

my sister looks after mine and although she is not really horsey she knows what to do! i also have my auntie on standy by as well. the yard am on is DIY but if any probs the YO is always on hand. last year when i was away bracken had colic and the YO had the vet on the way by the time my sister got there even though she was only 10 mins away and also phoned me to let me know what was going on i had a lovely phone bill for that!!!. so this year am going to look forward to my 3 weeks in the sun knowing bracken is as safe as she would be if i was at home:-)

Ours is on full livery, but I do speak very nicely to my YO and explain that I will be away and he will then give that bit more care and attention and in particular watch out for any field injuries etc. If a sensible teenager is around, I often pay her a small amount to groom and spend time with our horse.

Interestingly, the kennel where I take my dog (and if desperate my cat, although he is much better off at home if I can find anyone to come and feed him) takes horses as well. They seem very well cared for, and it is a lovely place with beautifully maintained paddocks by the woods. One day I'll probably try this too.
