When you look around a potential new livery yard

When you visit a potential new livery yard to move your horse to, how soon do you make up your mind that you would like to move there? Do you get a good feel for the yard as soon as you step onto the place or do you like to make a second visit to be sure before you make the big move?

I usually get a feel for the place on the first visit. If I was unsure and the place I was moving from was not too bad (so not urgent to move), then I would probably go for a second visit.

I usually get a feel for a place pretty much straight away, but of course you never really know a yard until you are on it.
I have made a bad decision on a couple of occasions, and regretted moving. Sometimes what seems ideal is not.
I would always try and get another visit before committing to a move, A good idea is to go with a friend or two to get their opinion.
It's good to go at busy times too, so you can see what it's like. Also maybe getting a chance to see what the other liveries are like.

The yard i am on now is the best ever, and i am very happy there, a year and a bit later. I hope we never have to move again

I made a big mistake at my first yard I was swayed by the prettiness of it and the organisation, but it was a nightmare. I am now on a lovely yard, I visited twice, spoke to the YM twice, and knew someone there as well, but it did feel right from the start and I am now really happy as is George.

I visited my current yard 3 times at different times of the day to check things like menage rush hour etc but already had a good feel for the place from the first visit.
