I;d just ignore it or tell them you didn't buy it for its looks!! I would be wonderfully happy with the ugliest horse in the world if he or she would look afer me, forgive my faults and take me on safe and enjoyable hacks!!

Tell them to f off. Iv got 4 horses and luckily have a yard with my friend now. Would not go back to a livery yard. If your happy it has jack s**t to do with anybody else. I could own the ugliest horse around for all I care but if he is suitable for what I want, I wouldn't care.

^^^ this! Its just jealousy. I have five ponies and although not a problem on my yard some of my horsey friends make some pretty petty comments and it does hurt until you realise they would want what you have. I am a housewife and most of my friends work and don't have the time for more than one horse, a large family and everything else, whichmust make it hard to accept. One woman I know is vile about my lot and my kids because her daughter doesn't spend anytime at her stables and the RSPCA had to pts one of hers due to neglect (she only had 3 at the time), she sent the RSPCA out 4 times to me because she couldn't accept I had the time to care for my little herd properly.

I wouldnt let it bother you i have 5 permanent as in mine and i have others coming and going to sell on have 10 at moment but i am on my own place, i do get remarks sometimes from people asking why have i got that many i always just say becuase i want them and then say thinking about getting a few more that usually shuts them up.

Some of my older ones are 20 and i have had them sine yearlings so not a flash in the pan.
I have to say i have never made a nasty remark about anyones horses whatever they were like i quite like seeing other peoples horses, why a horselover would want to make nasty comments just shows you what they are like.

To be honest i couldnt care less what anybody said about my horses as long as i like them that is all that matters just waft about smiling and singing it will keep you in a good mood and annoy the envious sad people.

Ignore them. Its more than likely to be jealousy, and I am willing to bet that they dont all own stunners either. I suspect they are a bit put out because you can afford to keep two on livery and thats all. I would just hold your head high, dont bite and it will no doubt end.

I have to be honest though, I've never heard of or had this. I've only been on two livery yards and have had pretty much two horses all that time, apart from right at the start and all the other liveries have had just one horse and I've never had a problem.

Livery yards can be so bitchy sometimes, but I suspect if you keep your head held high, and just carry on as normal, it will all die a death.

I've experienced a rise in pettiness from certain liveries since getting my 2nd horse-it is just jealousy and i treat it with the contempt it deserves :P (Dont have any time left to worry LOL)

i can see people getting jelous - but how pathetic!! lol

i know many people with 2 horses... good for them - im not jelous at all!!

i have one horse who i am so proud of as she is well behaved, quiet and i love her to bits - even if she was a little crap i have a horse and im so chuffed at that :)

I loathe jelouse people - i personally think its the worst trait you can have, apart from being a liar - and my last yard had jelouse liars on it and they made my life misery, to the extent i would rush off the yard.

Circumstances changed for me just after i lost my Gingerwitch and i moved yards - to a very small, livery yard full of happy hackers and folks whom just keep horses becasue they love them! and guess what - all my confidence issues have suddenly dissapeared, i now no longer worry about "clipping" being seen at the "right shows" having the correct trainer - having ridden for 45 mins in outline in the school every day to "prove" i am a rider - so have a look round your local area an if it starts to affect you - move and leave them to spoil there own little sad lives and not yours - and anyhow - to me every horse is a beautiful stunner !

Sounds like they are just jealous, so just ignore them! When we got one of our boys, I noticed a change in the way some people were and also got a few comments from these people.

I love my rejects to bits! and this week they proved to me why they are such superstars in their own right!:D

I dont worry about what anyone thinks of them and if I want to increase my herd I will do- knowing I can take care of them physically mentally and also in hugs and snogs! ;)

But then I do have a bit of a temper... and you can say what you like about me, call me names pick on my clothes, hair, boots, car whatever!
but if anyone says anything about my rejects then i get personal and would probably set fire to their house???:cool:

Hmmm quite a few people on my yard have 2, 3 and sometimes 4 horses and no one seems to think anything of this - quite a few swap and change about and people are always willing to lend out spare horses when other people's are sick. I'm of the opinion that if something doesn't effect/hinder me and person is coping then they can do what they like - not sure why people feel the need to butt in?!! Then again you get odd balls everywhere - just smile and say "suits us", they'll soon p off.

I thought it was pretty common to have two on livery yards, makes it easier for turning out and bringing in.
I've never experienced any comments, my three are well behaved, shiny and ridden more than most of the other horses on my current yard. No one looks down on anyone else, we all do our best with the time we have.
Enjoy your new one :)
