When's the latest you can take a second cut?

As title says really- when is the latest you should take a second cut of hay/haylage?

Also if our field only has approx 6-8inches growth in it at the min, will it be likely we will be able to? Last cut was taken about 8week ago

I depends where you are, you need enough day light to bale after dew has burned off and before it starts coming down again!! It can be done in Sept if we get a nice hot dry india summer period.

Did you fertilise again? Not sure it'll grow to cuting height in time without.
Standing hay (ie, long grass) works well if you can't get it cut

Last summer (what a joke!) we had out third cut silage finally finished in January...

Latest we have made hay is October.

i dont know much about hay making. but the yard just cut some hayledge off our field this week, sounds like you can do it later though!

Didn't get it fertilised unfortunately. To be honest we were just leaving it for winter grazing but the thought occurred maybe we could get another cut.

We have made hay in October and hay lage in November- the goodness is less but when weather gives a break you just take it if grass is long enough.
Just getting our second cut haylage in this week- 2 fields done last week the other 2 this week.
