Maesfen
Extremely Old Nag!
I'm looking to re-home Goody but he won't be the easiest to find someone for him and I don't want him passed from pillar to post; I'd rather have him back if that's the case.
Bit of background. I was given Goody over two years ago as a damaged beyond repair three year old racehorse. He had had a hock trauma; no skin broken just a massively huge joint with enough fluid to sink a ship so they gave up on him after doing all the scans etc which showed it wasn't likely to get better enough for him to return to racing which was a good thing as he's a big horse and was so immature, he shouldn't have been raced at all until much later. The vet note I have (from Rossdales) said tongue in cheek that what we had should settle down but was Asgoodasitgets - which is his full name! He came to me to at least have the chance to be a field mower if nothing else and since then he's been allowed to grow and vegetate. We've gone from a weedy 15.3 to a 16.1 powerhouse. The only time he's been lame is after a trim and he has to go over the rough ground to get to the field; his hock hasn't given him any trouble at all and has now, with the exception of a large curb, shows no sign of the original damage. If it had been ten years ago, he wouldn't be going anywhere; he'd become my second horse of a lifetime (Thatch will always have that title) but age and arthritis have caught up with me which makes that totally unviable and would just end up frightening ourselves. Hence the need to find him his own person as he's bored witless in the field. He needs a job but the trouble is, I don't know what job he'd stand up to once he is in work.
Ideally, he needs three months of road walking to even start before even thinking about circles and not everyone has the patience for that without being certain they will have a sound horse at the end.
Ideas on a postcard please. If it helps, I'm in south Cheshire.
To give you some idea this is him and new filly her first day out.
