Seems to be a distinct lack of capable sharers in Surrey!

All I want is someone who isn't a novice (but not advanced either) and someone who'll treat my horse well when I'm not around. Even got transport ect but they just don't seem to be around.

Do you think it's because alot of sharers are just getting into riding and prefer a novice ride or want to compete so want a WB etc?

Baffling me a bit!

Not many in Northants / bucks either. I only want some one do Arch a couple of times a week so I can get on with my decorating and they can compete on him aswell, but no one seems capable enough!

we have been so lucky with sharers over the years, they have all turned into really good friends, even when they bought their own horses! we advertise in our local horsey mag, and really 'interview' them on phone first - we've found that generally you 'click' and have a good old chat with the ones that you get on with. If no 'chemistry' over the phone we don't bother taking the next step! Bear in mind, you have to kiss a lot of frogs first...!

I would like to be a good sharer!!

I would have thought that there would be loads of people who would want to share a horse too. I guess maybe more people can afford to buy their own horses these days?? Or maybe because there are fewer riding schools fewer people learn to ride these days?

I wish you were both nearer me. My girl is off and when she returns to work will be ridden by a professional, so Id love something nice to ride.

I think we are all in the wrong bits of the country!!! You sound very reasonable in your demands. I had one woman whose horse sounded perfect for me... She said she was desperate for someone to hack him out just once a week, great I thought, no probs there. Could even manage twice. But she wanted him to be the only horse in my life (I ride one other horse 3x a week). wtf!!! I mean yes he's yours do what you want, but that was 4 months ago, and surprise surprise she hasn't found anyone for him!

Well I have found N TWO sharers in a week!! And they both seem fab.....but then again when I advertised Fin I didn't get much response. Maybe people are looking more for WBs..........?

'm sure someone will come along hun - better to wait and find the right person than end up with a nightmare situation

They are gold dust to find a decent one.

I had a lady who helped me out several years a go. She was a diamond. She never ever annoyed me EVER! VAL, I miss yoooou!!

I was looking for a sharer for a couple of years and gave up in the end. A couple of months later and I had forgotten I had left an advert in the locl tack shop and I had a phonecall asking if I was till looking. She is the best sharer ever. She absolutely dotes on my horse and my horse loves her. Don't give up!

See, i have the opposite problem - I am a fairly confident rider, and i'd love to share a horse, but I'm an unconfident caller. I see fabulous horses advertised for share in the tack shop, but am always a bit nervous of calling up, and assume that because the horse looks great, that the owner has already found their sharer. Or i worry that the owner will sneer at me because i am not a "cool" horsy person, or can't do half-pass, or jump 2 foot 9, etc, etc, etc.

I'm happy at all three paces, been out of riding for a while but coming back in fast (!!), keen on dressage, less so on jumping, and don't need or want a complete plod. I appear to be in the same area as some of you (milton keynes/ leighton buzzard area) ...maybe i should screw my courage up and start calling !
