Where are all the sharers??

I'm the other end. I'm looking for something to share. Iv had ex racers, done pc, all rc, and I'm having regular lessons. Willing to muck in and pay. Iv had horses all my life but sold up due to £. Everything I have been to see is rubbish, dangerous or miles away from me :(

i was looking for a share for years and there was absolutely nothing round here! The riders are always where the horses are not, typical.

I have a lovely TB dressage mare upto Elem/Med based in Glos for share/loan and not one phone call or timewasting email!

Hi I'm from Stroud and I'm a sharer (unfortunately I live in London at the moment so not much use to you!) I found the difference between the two when trying to find a horse to share is that because Stroud is such a small place you have to go via word of mouth. I just assumed there would be no adverts for Stroud on the internet so I didn't bother looking. I would contact Frampton RC, Berkeley and District RC, and stick notices up at some local riding schools. It might also be worth contacting local pony clubs if he's only 14hh. I know a lot of owners don't want under 16 sharers but if they come with chaperoned with a horsey mother (like I did) then it can work.

I am not condoning this or commenting on the morality of it but.... a friend of mine found her sharer by going to the local riding school, watching some of the more advance lessons, picking out a couple of girls who's riding she liked and subtely approaching them afterwards.... worked a treat! There are lots of people who aren't even aware that horse shares exist as a concept, and are paying £40 upwards a week on lessons

TBH, I have just readvertised mine, and had only one serious response, who then found one closer to her, and one that I couldn't respond to as the e-mail addy given didn't work.

It is very surreal.

I am a sharer, and I do pay, but I think most people cant and thats what puts them off. I found a bit of extra riding on top of my share, but wouldnt have been able to if the owner wanted money.

Try advertising in Farm supplies and Stroud Saddlery and livery yard notice boards.

Thank you Hobbitpony, I will contact the person on that ad :-)

Thanks ngrace, I put an ad few months ago in Chalford hill (Stroud services) but didn't get any answers, I will go there and check it is still there as may have been taken off now.
Someone at the yard told me today she found her sharer by putting an ad in Countrywide in Cirencester so I will do this as well:-)
I thought about putting an ad in yards but I'm not sure the yard owners would be ok with this as it could take a rider off from having lessons with them?

Maybe if it is a riding school, but i know Hyde often have notices up. Ask the DC Julie Crew if she knows anyone, tell her that your looking for someone to do xxx on xxx type of horse and she may know someone.

The last time I dvertised to be a sharer I went to look at a horse and it ended up being 3 horses all unrideable and the woman wanted me to bring them all in and groom them nothing else. So went to see them twice and give in.

Mine is very "rideable" but as I work full time on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I can only have a short ride after work and as I finish at 6pm I am never at the yard before 6.30pm.(I'm part time on Monday and Friday)
Otherwise I ride him everyday :-)
