Where are all the trailers hiding? Can't find one to buy!

I have now been grounded for several months as I had to sell my lorry to pay for structural work on my house. It's been increasingly hard not going to any comps or lessons as I'm used to being out n about. I was planning to save up to buy an Equitrek, which would mean not being mobile until maybe May next year. I suddenly had a stroke of genius & thought, eff it, let's just get an older trailer, e.g. a Rice, & get going again.

So far, all the trailers on eBay have been miles away, and I've been outbid on 3 of them! Is there anywhere else I can look? I've tried Horsemart & 1 or 2 other similar sites. I've tried HHO, but find their search engine frustrating. It seems to pull up completely random things that don't correspond at all to search criteria.

All I want is something safe & not too scruffy to transport one ex-racer, pref with front unload, pref around the £750 mark.

Any suggestions appreciated as I was resigned to not going anywhere for ages, but now that a towbar is going on my Landcruiser on Thursday, I am stupidly excited & can't wait to get cracking.

Tried preloved. Might try it again in case any more have gone on. Going to try some tack shops tomo.

H'mm, hadn't thought of ad trader. Will give it a go! THank you!
 
How do people on ad trader expect to sell their trailer with a description like this: double horse trailer, green, needs some attention' with NO other details and NO photo...??
 
Wow, thank you - that's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for. Just looked on googlemaps & it's nearly 250 miles away though :-(
 
How far are you from Surrey? I might be selling my old Bahill. Will take my girl who is 16.1 but I've had to take the partition out so it will only take one.

Your trailer looks really nice. Do you have the partition for it still? We are about 50 miles north of London. I don't suppose you've got any photos of the inside?

i am in the opposite situation.

I am going to buy a trailer when i have sold my lorry.

Lorry not sold yet but looking on ebay and preloved there are about 6-7 trailers that fit my bill perfectly, shame i have to wait :(

However someone coming to see lorry tomorrow so fingers crossed xxxx
 
I am very pleased that my lorry's sold as the whole thing was the most monumental headache! Tyre kickers, numpties etc. Didn't think I was ever going to sell it!

My first transport, a good 15 years ago, was a single Rice trailer, & I'm starting to wish that I'd kept it! If I'd stuck to the Rice all this years, it would have saved me thousands & thousands on buying lorries & trying to keep them on the road and trying to drag them thru their MOT every year. However, I would have missed out on the fun of refusing to start for no good reason, forgetting to switch off the isolator & missing comps & lessons, expensive bits dropping off it, fixing one thing after being grounded for ages only to have something else go wrong virtually straight away, **** mechanics not knowing what's wrong with it, taking 3 goes to 'fix' something before they hit on the right thing, not returning phone calls....

In May, when my (sold) lorry's MOT is due, it will be very satisfying not having to go thru the annual headache.

It is a pony box technically hence why I took the partition out - I do still have it though and the box will carry up to 8/900kg. Floors, electrics and breaks were all done last year.
 
Could I squeeze in a 16.1 ex-racer & a 14 hh pony, who's his travelling companion? I am hoping to get a travel mirror & see if he'll travel alone, but would rather have the option.
 
My 16.1 has travelled in it, but she is a bad loader so had to travel her on her own. I think you would be able to but if you like I can bring it up to you so you can try it, if you like it then I'll leave it with you, if not would you be able to pay a little towards my diesel? My chunky cob fits in one side of it as I have travelled him and my welsh c in it together.
 
Sorry but penny wise pound foolish!!!, and it's high time trailers were subject to an annual MOT.. please make sure the floors brakes and the structure of these "bargains" are safe .. before putting horse/s in them
 
That looks like a nice trailer. Perfect11 I imagine most trailer owners do get them checked and serviced at least annually, especially with the older ones.

I do appreciate your concerns, but I would plan on getting any trailer serviced every 6 months. You hear awful stories of accidents happening with unserviced trailers, & I would hate to be one of them.

If you are talking about my trailer perfect11s the floor, ramps, brakes and electrics were all done last summer. The person who sold it to me is a good friend and is very strict on maintaining it for me!

No.. it was a more general comment about trailer safety ...sorry if there was any misunderstanding...
 
I am looking to sell my old Rice. Not sure what model it is but it is a double with front and rear ramps and i understand it is the extra height version. Had new floor 3 years ago but now needs work on the rear ramp. Could do with a wash and lick of paint but that is cosmetic. Would be perfectly usable once ramp sorted. Based in south bucks... really must pull my finger out and get it advertised
