I want to try on some new riding hats, I have a Charles Owen but it's really tight now and rather 'Noddy' looking - I feel like I should be wearing jodphur boots and pretty ponies with it! :D I'm not vain, I like classic quality rather than the next new thing.

I wanted to try on some different makes; apparently putting on weight makes your head change shape

I know of Frogpool, so that will be my first port of call - unless anyone has any better ideas? I keep seeing threads about these fab, huge saddlery outlets, but they all seem to be 'up country.' Anyone recommend anywhere?

I should have had a good try on at Olympia, but I wasn't intending to ride regularly (if at all) then; typical!

Go through the Dartford Tunnel and go to Ingatestone saddlery. I live in mid kent, and drive straight past Speedgate (and within 3 miles of Frogpool) in order to go to Essex and go to Ingatestone, it is a MUCH beter shop than either of those two.

Frogpool, Speedgate and Ingatestone are the main ones.
There's a little one in Biggin Hill, and another very small one in Woldingham.

The Elms at Four Elms near Sevenoaks is great, super selection, loyalty card and nice cafe and garden centre on site too, and its got good parking!

Chaskits in tunbridge wells has a really good selection of better stuff not just your cheapy bits and pieces, well worth the trip!

I bough an expensive bridle from a large Essex tack shop and it promptly broke the first time I tried it on. After they refused to exchange i will never shop there again!
