Where can I buy stables in Scotland?

Over the past few weeks, I've decided that the cost of keeping my horse livery (including costs of driving there + back) is just to much, so have decided to move her home onto my own land. However, I have absolutely no idea where to buy stables! I'm going to need 2 stables big enough for a 14.2 cob type as I will also be getting her a companion:)

What about getting a local joiner who does stables in to do them? I did this, meant I ended up with really decent quality stables (Ive heard some horror stories about some of the big name stable-specialist companies) and also meant he built exactly what I wanted to my own spec. Like I wanted much larger than usual stables and a certain overhang etc. Im not sure you get nearly so much choice with the flat pack type ones most stable companies do. For the same spec I was probably cheaper getting my joiner too.

I have a 6 stable block built in 2012 by Saltire, they are quality stables and I am still very pleased with them. You do need to wait until they can get round to your job, but I think this depends on what size it is and what time of year.

I also had a local joiner/shed builder put up a 2 stable block for me and he tried to copy the Saltire stables. It wasn't as easy as you'd think! It was also quite hard work and needed a few of us to get the panels up and into position. Of course it was cheaper, but I think the doors in particular are not as good as the purpose made ones.

Saltire make good quality stables but when we lived in Scotland, they had a long waiting list. We purchased from Withington Hill, Manchester, not sure if they still exist. It was no more expensive.

I had interior ones put in from Saltire-they were fab, it was an unusual building to convert, they came up with two novel solutions to different problems (one was how to cover up an inspection pit) and converted some old offices into a hay barn that we were considering pulling down and getting them to build a new one on top. that was four years ago and the lead time was 3 months. they came in with a team and were done in a few hours-we were impressed and given our experience with builders, heating engineers and different sparkies-they were brilliant in comparison for doing exactly what they saidf they'd do. wish I could afford to get a couple of kennels built by them tbh!

I'd phone a local reputable joiner:)
Luckily we didn't need to as stables came with our house but I think others are overpriced.

I would look at local reputable joiner as you can get better quality for cheaper although they may take longer to put them up.

Just had my Saltire stables replaced with ones made by local chap and they are far better spec and absolutely solid. The previous owner to my house put in the Saltire stables the year before we moved in. I had expected them to last longer than 12 years before they needing pulled down before they collapsed on my horses. I know my new replacement stables are going to be good for a lot longer and probably will see my horse owning days out.

We bought all the materials and got a joiner to build ours. 2 12 x 12 and a 10x12 storage area. We sourced all the materials and just paid the labour. They were fab and when we moved someone bought them from us they are still going strong :)
