We need:

4yrs preferably (would give or take a year for the right one)
14.2 - 15.2hh
Cob type
Does not have to be a looker/have great paces
Must be sound
Does not have to be backed
Will definately buy straight off the field
Within 2hr drive from Wantage, Oxfordshire
£1000 max to spend

Been looking on HorseMart mainly (found one on there but is a little way away).

Any ideas welcome!!

Thanks :)

Your budget is a little low for a cob, as they are really 'on trend' at present. I think you will be lucky if you get one for £1500.

there is a chap in ogbourne st george nr marlborough who always seems to have lovely cob types , in my opinion he is an excellent judge of horse flesh and always seems to have good temperements he often advertises on preloved alot of his are youngstock mainly 2/3 yt olds pm if you want contact details , i dont have them at mo but can certainly get them

as above^^^

you arnt going to get what you posted for a grand i wouldnt have thought :/

1500 is about right for him except id offer 1200 cause im cheeky :D

seriously?... im surprised.
Is the OP's budget of 1k not enough for an unbroken 4 yr old cob in today's rock bottom market when quality broken and schooled on riding horses are struggling to shift at 1.5 - 2k?

genuinely interested?

oh god now I want that one too!!:D:D

I like Rooney - also Marmite who is the next one along!

OP have you tried looking in free adds or adtrader. I knoe in our local one there are often dealers selling young stock. I would have thought you could get whgat you are after for your budget

iv had no interest in my well schooled ISH 8yr old mare who has just started BD and she is only up for two and a half ONO! :-(

My rising 4 year old coloured cob has been advertised for £900 all summer. She is now being professionally started by a very well respected person and I will be looking for a bit more for her.
Unfortunately in N Yorks though :-(

P.S which one you going to look at? (i'm such a nosey cow :p)

Hehe - feel like I don't want to jinx it as she sounds nice. Bay mare 6yo. Have a couple of visits planned this weekend - all mares but I'm not sexist !!

that was what i thought. some of those 4yr old cobs look over priced for my money but then dealers obviously have to make a profit just in todays market i wonder how many they can sell for that.

still, a good rep means a lot i suppose
