Our school is holding a Christmas Fayre and has been quoted £600 to hire reindeer! In a moment of madness I suggested dressing up our pony as a reindeer, thinking I had seen ready-made outfits advertised. Now I can't find anything! Does anyone know where I can buy some ready-made antlers, etc for an 11hh pony? I need something by the end of November! Thanks

Robinsons catalogue has antlers that fasten to the bridle......and other bits and bobs for making your pony christmassy.......daughter spotted them, but strangely now the catalogue has disappeared......

Strangely this mysterious phenomenon also seems to apply to annoying toys. They run out of batteries but we can never seem to find the ones that fit ever again ... Thanks for your help!

I bought some bells for my horse harness last year from a specialist musical instrument shop (you might get them elsewhere too). The hand held kind were only £5 each and they have 6 or more bells on. I tie them to the back band with cable ties for the season.

Pictures of pony and bells can be found here

Your school probably has some in the music department

I recommend that you introduce the bells before the ponies are due to perform. I used to ring mine at mealtimes so he associates the sound with dinner

Also, the antlers you get in the POUND shops will work if you can tuck them into the ends of the browband and secure with tinsel/string/cable ties to suit.

I would be interested in any ideas for creating a red nose which could sit below the noseband. ie on his nose.

What about half a tennis ball dyed red with a flash or something through a hole in it and tying it on to the noseband? Or one of those headshaker nosenets with something sewn on to it ... although not sure how expensive that would be. You need to find something heavy enough not to bump around when he moves I guess.

Half a red football, maybe?

I am banned from christmasseying Frankie up this year. A very un-festive feeling pony ceremoniously dumped me last December when he caught sight of his own tinstle-tail
