I'm booked in to take my stage one at Moulton on Friday.

At the moment, the weather where I am is crazy. There's over two foot of snow and it just keeps on coming! Most of the roads around the city are closed, and they're advising people not to travel.

I have just rung Moulton and their weather is fine and they're still going ahead!

Am trying to get through to BHS to see what the score is, but just wondered if any of you know what the situation would be? Could we rebook or will we lose our money?

Thank you :)

Just got through, can you believe it I have to write a letter to the senior executive and explain my situation with pictures, road closures etc etc and even then I'm not guarenteed my money back!

https://www.bhs.org.uk/Training_and...Advice_for_Candidates/Booking_conditions.aspx

4. BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS: Candidates are advised that in the event of ice, snow or flood, examinations may be cancelled or postponed. Whilst the Examinations Office will try to notify all candidates, candidates are advised to telephone the centre the day before if there is doubt in view of the weather. If the examination does take place, candidates who fail to arrive for any reason (and this includes the weather conditions), are liable to forfeit their fee. Candidates are, therefore, advised to bear this point in mind when choosing to book their examination during the winter months.

Hopefully, due to your circumstances, you will get refund/be able to rebook a different date but this is in their Booking Terms and Conditions.

Thank you mishaspey, I have read that bit :)

But £150 is a lot of money for a student, and although I appreciate that part of the rules, I physically cannot get my car off campus and cannot make it to the centre.

I appreciate some people don't bother to turn up which is why they do it, but come on - I'm doing my hardest!!

That seems a very unfair system. Given that the police are requesting that people only make essential joirneys, I would have thought that he BHS would have taken the police advisory notice as a given and paid up, or re-booked.

You get a full refund for medical note from my doctor. But they said they needed to recieve it before the date of the exam so had to get a doctors appointment and post it in two days. Luckily I knew my doctor who rides and knows the BHS so got a quick appointment!
I would take pictures, see if you can print off the police advice not to drive and write a grovelling letter.

Thing that gets me is if it due to weather it not like your not going to rebook it!!!

Do what the BHS have asked, photos, road reports, road closures, police warnings etc. Get as much evidence as possible. Show your intended route and mark all the issues on it. Then send in with letter stating you wish to rebook not claim a refund and hopefully they will re book you.

They may surprise you and offer a rebook, or partial refund.

Unfortunately it's not the BHS's fault about the weather. If it goes ahead all costs will still have to be paid regardless of whether you turn up or not.

It's like I was explaining to customers at work the other day who couldn't get to the club to take the lessons they'd booked. The club still opened so electricity fees, staff payments etc. all still have to be accounted for. I'm not going to work for free just because a few customers were unable to get there.

It's very unlucky and unfortunate and hopefully the BHS will refund you if you do as they ask, but they also made their policy perfectly clear when you booked so are perfectly within their rights to deny this.

Good luck; I hope they come through for you!

That's a particularly harsh policy. These are exceptional weather conditions. Would the BHS take responsibility for someone having an accident battling to get to them then?

We are in Northants and yes it isn't too bad here. But it's hell for many of our friends and family elsewhere.

Unfortunately i think you will loose your money.
If they are going ahead they will expect you to be there.

If you speak to them, beg then and hopefully get an understanding person to listen you make get a refund or be able to change the date.

You know what these places are like!
Unless there is a sonic boom, aliens or war they expect you to be there!

Hope you get it sorted.

Thank you very much for your help everybody.

Have been taking photos of the snow this morning - or trying at least - has been such a blizzard the picture's are mostly just white!

Have print screened all of the road warnings, and a copy of our forecast for today.

There's no way I could get to the exam, and at the end of the day two lives are worth more than £300 (my friend who I live with should be taking the same exam).

Am now going to ring Moulton for a final check, and if they're still running to inform them that we wont be there tomorrow.

Fingers crossed they see sense, Lincoln has been all over the news with our weather, and we're not even desperate for a refund, we're quite happy to change dates.

i can understand why they have to be so harsh. Some people can be really pathetic in this weather (obviously your situation is a bit different).

one of my friends on facebook who lives ten minutes away is basically saying she is snowed in and cant get out to go to work and that she is gutted she cant get an advent calendar for her kids. i know thats not true, ive driven past her house twice now, the roads are completely clear and town is fine. and another one from down south has called off college and has been shopping instead, college is nearer to her than town!

I'm with Amymay here. If you don't get your money back then contact trading standards. They were incredibly helpful to me once. They dictate you a standard letter to send.
