where do you buy alcar?

I'm currently buying alcar from ebay at about thirty quid a kilo. Does anyone have a cheaper source? It's got a very distinctive taste, it's pretty easy to tell it's genuine.

I get mine from forage plus, think yours is much cheaper though. Thinking of trying it myself!

I've just ordered a new lot at thirty pounds including postage. It tastes like the inside of a sherbet lemon, it's easy to know it's genuine, quite apart from the fact that the difference in my horse is stunning! Let me taste this new lot, from a new supplier, and if it's right I'll let you know.

I certainly am, and what a change in the horse! I hacking twice as far, twice as fast, and he's still got energy left at the end. Spookiness well down, muscle tone well up, feet managing the grass better (reduced pulses) and he's only been on it a month.

We're on DMG powder atm. I sold the horse to his sharer a few months ago & he's been off the DMG & is now pretty stiff. Started it again this morning, so we shall see how we go. If he doesn't loosen up, we shall try ALCAR & see what happens.

What's DMB?

You may know, but make sure you buy acetyl-l-carnetine and not just l-carnetine. The alcar is what l-carnetine turns into inside the horse and is far more effective. Dose rate 1g per 45 kilos.

Mine was mega on alcar for 10 weeks, the best he has ever been then went completely over the top mental. No idea why and I haven't yet managed to get him back to being mega again. Such a shame as I'd though alcar was magic for a while!

Nooooooooooo! What was the timing - spring grass I hope?

Haha sorry! It was spring grass time but he has always had his restricted then when I took him off completely and just fed hay he didn't get any better. He was awful for at least 5 weeks and is still not right a couple of months later out on a track system with hay. I'm sure if I blood tested now his ast would be high. I'm investigating a few things and keeping a detailed diary trying desperately to figure out how to get him back to how he was for those 10 weeks of perfection. We are trying to rebuild our trust in each other as he was really not fun for a while!
