Where do you find vet, farrier etc.

We are shortly relocating to a new area, where we have no horsey contacts so no recommendations for new vet, farrier etc. from friends. No tack shops particularly nearby with helpful adverts. There is a riding club I would like to join to meet some local horse people, but they appear to meet mainly in summer so not much help in the short term. There do not appear to be many web results for equine vets, but I'm sure there must be plenty locally as it is a very horsey area; suspect it is a symptom of it still being quite rural and word-of-mouthey.

Before I resort to calling everyone in the yellow pages (or sticking a pin in the yellow pages!) does anyone have any other useful suggestions?

Or, when I was having a horse vetted, I googled specific vet names to come up with reviews for them.
