Where do you get your turmeric ?

Don't want to purchase bulk as want to see if horse will eat it first. Have tried two local supermarkets, neither of which stock it. (Sains and Asda) Where do you get yours please ? Also have seen some of you feed it with black pepper and oil ? why ?

I buy east end from the ethnic aisle in tescos. 99p for 100g Olive oil and pepper grinder from aldi. You need to feed with both otherwise they do not absorb the turmeric without. Can't remember the technical terms though

I get mine from here http://www.theasiancookshop.co.uk/index.asp?function=search or ebay, no Asian food shops in deepest darkest NE Shropshire!
The freshly ground pepper is for the volatile oils (which degrade once it is ground), and the oil (I use micronized linseed) are to stop the turmeric being passed through the system without being absorbed.

Its got to have at least 3% curcumin to be effective. A lot of the brands in supermarkets don't offer any info on content. You are better to go on Tumeric users Group on facebook where they list the best suppliers.

I bought it from Thunderbrook Equestrian, they are local to me, £6.99/kilo I think, they will post. They are one of the recommended suppliers from the FB group which is well worth a read as they supply lots of information for beginners

There are very few Asians or asian food shops in the area where I live so I order it off amazon.
