Where do you keep your gas bottles ?

Those of you who use a gas powered shower at your yard ,.where do you store the gas bottle? Reading conficting advice on Google! Some say OK to store indoors others say not to.
I was planning on keeping it in the tack room or feed room - would either of these be safe ?
The buildings are cinder block and wood.
 
Best practice is the bottle to be removed from the appliance, and stored outside in a cage. You also need signage saying gas bottles on premises to enable the fire brigade to deal with any issues, if, god forbid, a fire broke out.
 
I think it would be a small gas bottle rather than those big ones you see firing up boilers. Think gas bottle in a horsebox size - I think ?
 
From calorie gas website

For residential properties, you can store up to 30kg of butane (2 x 15kg gas bottles) indoors, for use in portable gas heaters for example.
Propane should always be stored outdoors; and in the case of fixed installations, propane should be sited outside.

Wonder if "indoors " in the guidance means inside your home , not inside an out building.
So just wondering if it's safe or what the dangers would be for keeping the propane cylinder for example in the tack room?
 
In a fire, when they get hot they explode. When damaged they can explode. If they explode in a room they are going to take out/severely damage the 4 walls and roof and set everythingon fire, if it isn't already - how will that affect the integrity of the rest of the building?
If it is outside and explodes it will take out 1 maybe 2 walls, some roof damage, but the building is likely to still be largely standing (depending in how its built etc and several other caveats).


So in a tack room is probably fine as only intermittent occupancy - lower chance on some one being in there if it does explode. But think about where it is located, worse case scenario you have a fire and are trying to evacuate horses or people, are they going to have to go past the tackroom and a potentially exploding gas cylinder to get to safety?

Also gas leaks - most tackrooms are too draughty for this to be a big risk, but should be considered. Especially if anyone smokes.

The tack room is actually right next to my horse's stable so maybe I'll reconsider that !
I'll ask in the shop when I go and pick up a bottle- I think previous tenant had one so will ask YO if she remembers where it was kept.

Will it be safe to be stored outside even if it gets wet etc or would it need to be covered up ?

In my experience, gas bottles are stored at the retailer in cages outside with no protection from the rain.
