Where do you measure "The bone"

When you hear people say, he's got a 10" bone where to you actually measure this?

round the circumference of the lower fore leg directly below the knee

Below the knee - and around - not down. It's the circumference.

Im sure it is 1cm below the knee,but im not definate i could be wrong.

I asked my vet about this as I didn't know, he said that it was a marketing gig to selling horses.
