Had a conversation with a friend the other day, she had taken her daughters out for a hack and waited to take a lead rope just incase, so she tied one round her waist so that they could all ride.

So my question is do you take a lead rope out with you. And where do you put it?

I dont take one but guess I should, its a good idea. Have taken them in the past and wound them round and attached to the D ring on the saddle.

If I'm going on a long hack, then I do as chances are I get off and walk for a bit - (due to hip cramp).

Attach to D ring of saddle and remove noseband and have leather headcollar on underneath.

I don't take one if I did I would have it wrapped up tight and clipped onto the d ring at front of saddle :) Definitely not round my waste i would worry about getting caught on something :o

I always take a rope with me, always have, always will, hacking, hunting, whatever. Used to clip it on a dee ring and used it countless times, often not for leading at all:)

Nowadays I tend to ride with a rope halter over the bridle and the rope just gets hitched on the saddle horn.

Faecal waste?! Sorry! Couldn't resist!

If I'm hunting I'll take a rope - wound up and clipped to a D-ring at the front of the saddle but I don't if I'm hacking, unless I'm taking a novice out.

I always take a rope with me. Actually I am new to this so thats why I have no more info about that. But I think the rope is the one which is used in every field.
