I've been trying to get a new LW rug for my boy and not having much luck! He's half clipped (full neck clip and then a cross between a blanket and a chase!) and living out 24/7. He's currently in his no fill rain sheet and is nice and toasty but it's got pretty ripped and someday it's going to get cooler. I've got a 200g but it feels like too much of a jump up so just want a nice reasonably priced 100g to see us through until 'Winter' finally arrives. My local shop has said that they don't make them anymore.

Anyone got any recommendations? He's 6" 6 for weatherbeta and amigo

Have you tried Ruggles? They do a 100g 1200 denier turnout. Got one for my tb who takes the same size as yours. I was looking at getting my ID one at first but when it arrived it wasn't deep enough or wide enough across the shoulders (he is massive, nothing fits him except from the big horse shop!). The rug was so cheap and good quality I got it exchanged for my tb!! I also bought one of their thermatex type rugs, such good value!!

They are still around, they are still made, what an odd thing for your shop to say :o I think that just means, 'we dont have any' (and shorthand for 'we dont want to source and order any either, please buy out more expensive heavier rugs instead ;))

These are the ones I just found using google/equine compare

Weatherbeeta Landa Freestyle Medium Lite Turnout Rug is 100g
as above, the shires tempest is 100g
Weatherbeeta Landa Medium Lite Combo Turnout Rug is 100g
Kingshead 100g Turnout Rug
Shires Stormbreaker 100gram
Horseware Rambo California Turnout Rug is i think 100g
Horseware Ireland Rambo Original Reflective 100g

I think PE do a 100g as well, pretty sure of it.

This first one is what my mare is in at the moment and she has the same clip as your horse allthough she does come in at night.

I do believe it is a no fill rug but it keeps her dry in the rain. The weather here has been so mild of late that she has been warm enough in this rug allthough I do have my 200g rug waiting in the wings for when it gets cooler.

We were just discussing this very subject at the yard last week! Thanks for posting it and will check out all the links posted here :0)

My boy has a 100g Saxon. Admittedly it was bought 5 years ago so I don't know if they still do them, but it was cheap (only about 30 pounds) and has lasted really well - he is still wearing it now! Been great value for money.

Rambo make a 100gm rug :) Or, alternatively you can use the Duo without a liner. That's exactly what I bought mine for :)

Google Swish Equestrian - I have one of their 100g rugs - they are fabulous - not overly generous lengthwise though, so if in doubt, go to the bigger size.

Premier Equine Buster Trio outer rug is 100g, I think you can buy the outer and 100g neck without the liners?? Best rug I've ever bought, 1650 denier, almost impossible to rip. good strong clips, breatheable.

If your horse fits amigo you could try the amigo bravo 12 100g - has 1200d outer so fairly hard wearing and compatible with the liner system so you can make it warmer when the winter sets in!

I've been looking for something between 100 and 150 for the same reason.
No fill rainsheet isn't quite enough on the colder days but he gets too hot in his 200g

How are the ruggles for fit?
Mine is a tb but has huge shoulders. Weatherbeeta Takas are good on him but the Landa was too tight round the shoulders as were Amigos.
FALs fit him but Premier Equine was too deep and came to his knees while still being a bit snug round the shoulder.

And prefer no neck.

With me... lol. I bought one for a bargain at Swish Equestrian (less than £30). I think they are sold out now, but it's the best rug I've ever owned for my mare.

Bugger...wish I'd seen this sooner. Couldn't find one in any of the shops so I've made do by layering a 100g quilt under his no-fill turnout. It did work quite well actually as my first attempt at layering rugs!

I have a weatherbeeta Landa 100g full neck (also comes in 200g so have one of each!)

Got it off some rug website.......equestrain clearance maybe?

The weetherbeta 100g only seems to come with a neck and he doesn't really need that, so I ended up going for the Amigo Bravo 12 so thanks for all the help!
