Hello all,

I know this is not really CR, but I never seem to get a response in NL, and have been told that you are a friendly knowledgable lot!!

I think I may have found a horse to loan (pending good behaviour tomorrow!) so am looking for a cheap but safe trailer to buy so we can take him lots of places to get him used to new things. Have tried ebay horsemart and horsequest, but everything seems so expensive. Does anyone know of anywhere better to look? People seem to be selling old Rice trailers that need work for over £500 which seems a bit mad to me!!

Thanks in advance :)

People are moving away from their lorries for financial reasons and even a standard Ifor is pushing 5K now so you are very unlikely to find anything useable for under 1-1.5 K im afraid just a fact of supply and demand.

you would be lucky to get a trailer for under £500 anyway. When I was looking for one I bought one for about £450 that needed work doing on it. And still does. And that was about four years ago, when prices should be cheaper according to above!

When I first got it, it needed a new floor, brakes relining, five new tyres, and I had it repainted on the outside. New set of brake rods.

List of jobs for this year: all the electrics need replacing, as does the wood on the ramp. It needs painting on the inside, the floor needs re-creositing. The frame work underneath needs doing with hammerite.

All of the above adds up to a trailer thats cost me lots of money!

I got my old rice in Nov last year off Ebay for £250, I did have to travel to wales to pick it up but that didn't bother me :)

Keep looking! It took me a few weeks to find it, but I just bought an old Rice trailer that needed no work at all for £700. I found that all of the ones that were reasonably priced were up north!

I have repainted the inside and ordered matting to put down throughout but its really smart!
