In Scotland for the moment...

but am due a trip to France and Northern Ireland in the very near future, hopefully between the stallion grading 1st of March and foaling commences beginning of April as they are long overdue promises that I have made.

As soon as I was physically able to and got the all clear from the doc, there was no holding back,

flew to Holland for the stallion show, VIP treatment, twas fab and a much appreciated break, saw some lovely stallions, Cantus, Casantos, Casandros, VDL Illinois (very interesting and controversial), Quasimodo Z (much nicer in real life than any photo online!) Rubiquil Sandreo, and some lovely pony stallions too, visited a pony stallion breeder the day after and learned all about his use of Russian Arab sires in their sport pony breeding program, mainly using New forrest bloodlines.

I was pleased to see Casandros at the show, as had seen him in Holland two years previously as a yearling, - long story but bumped into Mr Pieters (prior to his demise) owener of Casantos /Cantus at the airport whilst waiting on our freinds, he invited us to go and see two colts that he had for sale. The story was that the dam, by Goodtimes, had been scanned with twins at 11 days, so they removed one and implanted into a surrogate mare, both survived, I loved both colts but the agent simply said they were not for sale, anyway definitely wanting to use Casanros on something, just gotta love that Goodtimes head and movement and its a line that we just adore.

Anyway the morning after my trip to Holland, I flew to Switzerland to visit family and friends and spent one day in the mountains, taking in the alps and the glorious views of the Lac Leman from our hotel room situated on the waters edge at "Cully", which I have very much missed. The sun shone brilliantly and we could not have asked for more. It was great to see the In laws but its sad to see them looking so old and not so well....... and was a blast of cold water to realise how much time has since gone by

It was however a very relaxing trip and brought back many fond memories.

Last week Fudgie, my Lhasa Apso bitch, had a litter of puppies, all healthy and lively... and prior to that said adieu to the last of our 2007 foalies, CG by Lupicor, who sadly passed away hence the sudden interest I guess, Co-Pilot and Chelanno. I hate seeing them leave but they have all gone to fab new homes.

Upon my return we had two new arrivals that are being prepared for the stallion grading, its lots of fun on the yard at the mo, but manic, Charlie is very talkative, and with their arrival have lots more photo shoots and video footage to cram in over the coming weeks but love doing that! ...... and yah hallelujah we have SUN
cool.gif
and at least the mud is at last drying up, but with mud comes mud fever and extra work so its a hospital of lotions and potions at the moment, sigh....... Also getting all the boys ready for Grading and Zera ready for her IBOP, with lessons with various specialists in prep for the event is certainly keeping us all on our toes.

Yesterday we went to an unaffiliated dressage event nr Edinburgh with Anneke and Zera to get her out in a competition environment prior to her test and I'm off to to Aberdeen shire tomorrow to pick up a couple of broodmares to join the ever growing herd

New rider Anekke, has recently joined the team, she was placed 3rd/20 and 6th out of 19.. in her first outing not even four yet, such a clever girl, twas as if she had been doing it all her life, she did however perform some lovely tempis down the long side
blush.gif
, well balanced and light.. LOL - judges' overall comment.. "mare evidently trained to a much higher level, rider needs to learn which buttons to push..........

we almost wet ourselves laughing, Zera has been under saddle with Anneke for just three weeks and is not yet four, prior to that she has lunged in preparation to start her ridden career and in prep for the loose jumping last year, and was placed 5th:) she is just so naturally gifted and so balanced looks like she has been doing it for years.. must have, for judge to think the tempis were caused by low level rider on advanced schooled horse giving her the wrong aids........ hehe...........

anyway Anneke has also needed the support and time to settle into life with the horses and so relieved to have her on board, motivated, keen and ambitious... just what we need....

So, sorry to say, now that I'm no longer laid up with a lap top on my knee I won't be online a great deal.......... today I'm charging batteries (literally) LOL in preperation for the manic weeks/ months approaching.........

Oh and am delighted to have the "main man" coming home for the stud season! Not so sure that all the other boys will be quite so enthusiastic.
grin.gif

Hope you and yours are well Tobago! and all the best with the forth coming breeding season... may everyone be delighted with the new arrivals and here's hoping all the "boys" have a very busy season at stud..........

and sympathies to all those that may have to endure the unfortunate side of breeding

Lovely album Opie - what a stunning girl - hard to believe she is so young - can see why the poor judge was fooled!
