I would love to have a go at small local in-hand M&M shows but I don't know the first thing about showing. Is there a forum which specialises in showing matters? I am sure that I have heard of one but I am not sure what it is called. Grateful for any advice - thanks

It was the Show Ring that I was trying to think of. Many thanks both of you. Off for a look at all the sites you've suggested now ........I may be some time

Having shown M&Ms for many years, the best way to learn is to go and watch some classes, you will pick up so much more by watching what others do, turn out etc and its got to be better than sitting in front of a computer! Also, get in touch with your breed society, they will have all the essential information re rules and regulations.

Ponies UK have lots of shows throughout the year and thats a good society to belong to.

Dont get too stressed if your doing local showing, go and enjoy yourself and have some fun, thats what its supposed to be about at the end of the day, enjoy and good luck

Thanks pocket. I've just started to have a browse around the various sites. I have been to county shows and a few local ones but I am never quite sure that I have taken it all in so I thought that a bit of advice from a web site might not go amiss as well!

I am not aiming to win any classes but I think it would do me and my pony good to get out a bit more. I've only had her 4 and a half months but she's a lovely girl and I want to do as much as I can with her. I've never, ever competed at anything by the way as I am quite nervous and tend to go to pieces when I think people are watching me - not good - lol

I go on The show Ring and have found it to be extremely helpful. A vast range of people who show go one there - from Top Level HOYs type competitors to the like of me - the grassiest of grass roots competitor.

She looks a nice little horse, you could try the novice ridden classes, they accept snaffle bridles, plain brown hunter type. And if your going to do in hand, a white halter, I love M&M's and I'm very jealous, my little Welsh D passed away 2 years ago. I hope to get another in the near future
