If I decide to run away (and it is very tempting right now) where in this country would it be best to flee with a dog and a horse for that perfect freedom to have the perfect riding (and maybe with a brilliant instructor near by!)

.... 10 years plus of lovely riding holidays there on my old boy, but alas it is all too much for him now

Can recommend a lovely Bed & Breakfast for Horses up there, if anyone interested

Got to be Dartmoor - thousands of acres to ride in - no bridle paths - just total open access and very few gates. Oh and we have great instructors nearby, good competition venues and easy access to the motorway

I third that.

The part of Scotland where I am is ok. We've got lovely bridlepaths right across the road with woods and small beaches. And a fairly quiet village to wander about. Then there's an amazing beach which is very wide, shallow water with very little people on it just 10 mins in the box down the road, and massive forests that you could get lost in 10 mins in the other direction!
It's just a shame that Morris doesn't hack...

Mid Wales, Exmoor, Gloucestershire, Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, North Hertfordshire and for a bit of road work and site seeing Central London.

Definatley the lovely chiltern hills!! ahh those hills.....great for muscles and fitness. Long roadless bridleways, open fields. my favourite place!!!
