Hello - I have made the decision to put my 15.1 Connemara fatty in a grazing muzzle, and know there are a few different makes out there. Where can you get them from? The only one I've seen is Derby House, and is called the Comfort Grazing Muzzle - is this the Shires one? I've also seen a leather muzzle but I'm not sure if this is a grazing muzzle? Leather would seem to make sense from a safety point of view.
Many thanks for your help.

There are always plenty on ebay, but for speed might be best to get one from your local tack shop. The shires webbing one is fine as it has a velcro breakaway point. If you decide to go for a Greenguard grazing muzzle, whatever you do don't get the headcollar you can buy which goes with it, as that doesn't have a break point (can you believe)!

It isn't nice having to muzzle them, but far better that than laminitis. One of mine is out in the day with a grazing muzzle on and in at night with soaked haylage to get rid of all the sugars. Thankfully he is looking much better, but it is always a battle with good doers isn't it?

Hope your horse gets on okay with the muzzle and loses weight soon.

my fatty (also a willow!) has been wearing the shires now for 8 months and never a problem and only around £15. it does rub in places sometimes - only the hair away not the skin - but they all do - however some of the freinds have modified theirs by sewing in patches of sheepskin to prevent this

i got my pony a greenguard muzzle this year as she has had laminitis a few years ago and i hate keeping her in in good weather. she hated it at first and tried to get it off every way possible but she accepted it now and is absolutely fine . i didn't bother with thier headcollar and just attached it to the regular headcollar.
