Where to find a small, reasonably priced unbroken youngster?

I'm looking for something about 13-14.2hh which I can break in next spring. However, everything on Horsemart and H&H seems to be already broken, some of them at 2, and going for about £2000. I can afford maybe £500 however, I can provide a 5* home, where pony will live for at least a year before being sold. I'm not looking to make money, just have some fun!

There seems to be nothing in our local paper, and hasn't been for a while....I'm just a bit dubious about buying from a sale (and don't know of any local ones ) Can anyone advise me on where I should look?

West Midlands area, but we're right on the Welsh border, so an hour or so into Wales...I'm sorry I'm not really familiar with the surrounding Welsh counties

To be honest, and I am going to go against the grain here, I would find your local sale and at least go for a look around with such a limited amount of money to play with. When buying a youngster from the sale, there isn't as much risk as buying one already broken. If the horse appears healthy, even if it is in need of a brush and TLC, you may pick up a real bargain.

Other than that,try feed shops in the area for ads and word of mouth.

Well ive 2 possibly for sale, a 13.2hh section C 3yrs (4 next yr) & a 14.1 section D 4yr old ( 5next yr). The D was broken this year but hasnt done much since & the C is unbroken but well handled & been sat on....both in your price range...

Local sales do work. I recently sent two to a local sale as I had been unable to sell them privately! Both went for absolute peanuts considering what they should have been worth but they had to go

Faithkat, I know how you feel! I had a superstar pony advertised since May this year, and only sold him in November for half the price I was originally asking for him, and only £450 more then I paid for him 5 years ago as a 4 year old! On the plus side, he has stayed at the same yard and has a lovely time now with a 12 year old and an 8 year old
