I would like to find an experienced rider to compete my horse (stabled West Kent). He's jumped up to discovery but scope for more. Is there a BSJA magazine or something I could advertise in? Thanks.

I don't think you'll have a problem finding someone! Are you planning to keep it stabled where it is or send it to a rider?

I would suggest trying your local riding club and/or local instructors. Also try a search on the BSJA website for accredited trainers as they may know of someone suitable. If you were in Bucks I would love to help and know of people more experienced than me that could also help!

Where he is if possible but open to suggestions as long as not too far away from me as I would still like to ride him myself.
We're near Tunbridge Wells, so close to Surrey/Kent/East Suusex border.

I'm not too far away from you so probably compete at the same venues as you...Golden Cross, Royal Leisure, Duckhurst etc...
How big is the horse...what has he done etc. Are you looking for someone to just jump him at some shows or take more of a roll in fitness work and the like ?

I'd be happy to continue to keep him fit and meet someone at shows to ride him - open to suggestions really.
He's been lightly competed in SJ as he's concentrated on county showing which I plan to continue with on an occasional basis. He competed up to Discovery with previous owner. He enjoys jumping so would like someone to do more serious stuff with him who knows what they are doing.
He's 16.3 by the Dutch Warmblood Osilvis out of a Cruising mare, so very much bred to jump.

He sounds lovely. I take it he is still eligble for Discovery...and possibly British Novice (won less than £100 notional) ? No matter if not, he can still jump Amateur classes down to 90cms.
I would certainly be happy to jump him in the odd class for you if you wanted that and we got on. With my own two and a (very) full time job in the city though i couldn't commit to doing any of the fitness work i'm afraid. The other slight problem i could see is that i would normally be at shows for the slightly bigger classes as (when fit!) my better horse is jumping the 1.10m+ classes. We haven't been out much lately as he's been sidelined due to COPD...but i'm keeping everything crossed that he might be ready to make a comeback this weekend
If you wanted a more formal arrangement (and a far more professional jockey than me!) you could give Louise Pavitt a call and she might be willing to ride him at shows for you. Obviously she would charge for that though....but it's not outrageously expensive, and she's happy to just hop on at a show and jump them
Obviously there would be a bit of upfront expense for you in terms of getting yourself registered as an owner, and the horse registered too. I think around £120

I was just about to say Louise - she competes my horse for me (in the bigger classes) but has also taken my mare to BN/Disc
She will happily drive to you (your not far at all) and she will also let you know what shows she is going too and you can meet her there
Its £20 for her to come to you and then £20 per day at a show plus half the winnings

Louise was due to ride Bo in some bigger classes last year before he got sick. Was looking forward to seeing him 'under a pro'. Hopefully she might ride him for me this summer ifhe stays fit.
I do have her number ao PM if you haven't already got it
