Where to find house and land?

Due to a (potential) change in personal circumstances I *might* be looking to move to somewhere with house and land (1-4 acres?) in the SE (commutable to London). I've never been in a position to consider anything similar before so have no idea how feasible this would be or which websites to start browsing for locations/prices. Any clues for the more affordable end of the market? Thanks!

It depends how much you have to spend. I used to live in Kent and moved 7 years ago to Lincolnshire, it was the only area I could afford to buy & still commute to London, it is a trek but it's do-able. I've done a lot to the outside since moving in, bought more land, rent more land & even if I sold now I still couldn't afford to buy back down in Kent! You definitely get a lot more for your money the more North you go.
