We are going to start looking for a pony for my 8 year old. Can anyone suggest where to look online? I don't seem to be having any luck or maybe its just because people aren't loaning?
A friend of mine is struggling to find a pony to loan for her 12 year old daughter too... She needs something to build her confidence and we thought we'd be able to pick up someones outgrown elderly pony quite easily, but can't find any advertised anywhere...
I have to look for a loan home for my 13.1hh gelding soon (don't think it's fair to sell him on at his age, and this way I can control where he goes) Meanwhile my 10yr old daughter is hanging onto him by the skin of her teeth, she has only just got her confidence back on him (he was my 12yr old daughter's pony to ride, but the 10yr old now has taken over)
I am keeping him for now, but he will have to be rehomed by winter this yr as my 10yr old daughter is quite tall and will grow out of him quickly, even though she is happy to hack out only on him. He is safe to hunt, ride, jump and such a clever schoolmaster pony. He was sold to us as a second pony, but has been with us 3 yrs and been a good first pony for my nervous 10yr old....
He needs a smaller rider really to show the ropes to, he has so much to teach and is sooo wordly wise and experienced in his job. Walks across plastic/tarpaulins, you can cover him over in tarps. Walks through every puddle, expert on crossing ditches safely, if he can walk it, he will, or he'll jump. Nothing fazes this pony, he is such a cool customer, that I know he'll be easy to rehome, as he has a good reputation via the pony club round here, most people have heard of him...
I would try the local pony club, they have a newsletter which they put details of ponies for sale/loan on there. Have you tried the pony club website classifieds?
I know of a 16 year old pony, i think shes about 11.2hh. Shes been there and done it, but is not for a novice, shes only asking £995 including all tack and rugs... Gorgeous little thing

I forgot to say that I have looked on PC website but there is nothing in this area.
I didn't think it would be this hard.

Ditto - none of us are really connected with any of the local Pony Club's either so its hard to find out of any that might be coming up for loan soon...
Will see if I can get hold of any newsletters though.
Galena - your pony sounds exactly what my friends daughter is after! As you say though he's known through Pony Club and we don't really have those contacts.

Thanks, I would offer him to your friend if it wasn't for the fact my youngest daughter is reluctant to let him go, she's just got back into riding and really ENJOYS her hacks out with me at the moment, it seems a shame to force her off him just yet. I am also reluctant to replace him, as good ponies are hard to come by, and you have to get to know them all over again and all that aggro that goes with it LOL
