Lady sharing up to now, is finding it very difficult to find a nice, kind, easy-going horse.

Competent rider and horse will be kept on luxury full-livery.

No thoroughbreds and looks not so important but is in the South East and doesn't want to travel all over the country.

Why on earth should this be so difficult? All the horses seem to be competition types.

I am mystified - everybody is saying its difficult to sell - but this lady is finding it difficult to buy!!

I know of a couple of dealers in the SE that specialise in first horses / ponies. I've never had anything to do with either of them and don't know what their reputations are like, I just like window shopping on their websites and daydreaming :)

findmyfirsthorse.com and kellysponies.co.uk (I'm a bit in love with Stan on there right now :o)

Happy hunting! :)

Victoria Hibberd is fantastic!

She is based in Hampshire but gets some cracking horses in and really tries hard to find exactly what the client needs! Would highly reccomend

Failing that look really locally in tack shops ect.

Stick up some Wanted Bombproof/Spookproof horse notices in local tack shops feed merchants and also give to local instructors and farriers. That way you should find a nice horse locally. It may take some time but it works. Did it with both my horses and first one lasted 18 years and second one still going strong.

What height are you looking for?
Try asking anyone you know who's a member of a riding or pony club or the DC, as they may know of any ponies of horses going up for sale that may not have been advertised yet. They will usually be more than happy to tell any parents/acquaintances what your looking for. Word of mouth often has the best results. Tell your farrier as well, especially if he/she travels to lots of local yards, that way they can spread the word. Tell all your friends and instructors, stick notices up on tack shops, search horsemart/pony club website/ friday ad and basically tell everyone you meet what your looking for, and you never know, someone may know of a horse that's just been advertised or the owners thinking about selling. This is often the best way as then you can have a look before the horse goes on the market, which is a good advantage. Hope some of that helps :)

I have got a 15.1hh black welsh mare who is the safest horse I have ever met - she has done a bit of PC, had 2 foals (one of which I have in my back field, he is 2) never puts a foot wrong, gets het up, nothing. She is fantastic I love her and cant quite believe I am posting this!
We are in Surrey, on the Surrey/Sussex boarder.

I would look at Emma Hinkley at Clip Clop Traders www.clipcloptraders.co.uk . I bought my older (9) horse from her and wouldn't hesitate to buy from her again if I was ever looking again. Really honest (occasionally too honest :)) and really wants to help.

Good luck.
