question: How do you know which trainers to contact about horses coming out of training? Do you just contact anyone you can think of or are some more helpful than others? Am looking into this option aswell. Pm if you prefer.

I have a nice 9 year old, had a year off, which I am just starting on and will be looking for a home. I wouldn't call him as green as grass though, as being a pointer he done quite a bit of hunting, good to hack etc, and is really straightforward. Also stands still while you try and climb on off a gate! :D

Got both of mine from the same yard in Leicester.

First one I got as a 2yr old (now had him 3yrs) £500 and it's the best £500 I ever spent. Other one I got end of October as a 2.5yr old £800. Both absolutely stunning to look at - a completely black gelding and a chestnut filly with 4 white socks - and both really placid, although I think maybe thats me that just rubs off on them!

Both have super manners, aren't lunatics (not that i'd be bothered if they were), broken (obviously) just needed time off and feeding up a bit. Not had problems with transitioning to a GP saddle with either. If I ever wanted a 3rd, I'd go back to the same yard. They're very honest, really nice and bring their babies up real good!

Alternatively you could do as I did and work in a racing yard, fall in love with the critters and end up taking them home at the end of their racing careers ... I have 3 from work and 1 from another yard!

thanks for the replies ! :)

have contacted a couple of trainers and will look for a few more!

free/cheap as poss as i dont fancy spending another £1500 like i did last time lol :D
