where to go from here?, - career?

I am 18 basically i have always said i dont want to work with animals/ horses, however i know deep down that is the only thing i am actually good at and love at the same time, i am currently at college studying sport i have always wanted to do physio therapy however i no i am no where near smart enough!!, no way near got the grades, i would love to be a instructor, however i dont think i am truly good enough for that either, i always give my freind lessons on ellie but never would i dare to instruct someone i didnt know atleast i didnt think i would!!, at the moment all i want to do is work with the horses get on with i dunno being a animal nurse, i was thinking about speaking to my vet who i get on really well with but i feel a bit stupid asking,

I was maybe thinking about doing volunteer stuff and start from there for like rspca but do they even do it?

just get somewhere, dad doesnt want me two give up college and to be honest i am so behind i think i will soon get thrown out i know if i really want to do something however and put my mind to it i am suprisingly intenligent lmao!!

First things first, go and speak to your tutor about being so behind with your work. Get that sorted out before you try and make any decisions about anything. That way if you want to change course you can do it from a position of strength, rather than having to go begging. This is easy for me to say, I am much much older than you, this is a very small part of your life, if you live to be 80 then this year is 1/80th of your time on earth, and only a third of that 1/80th is spent at college (at the most). Your Dad is right you should stick with college.

I agree, you need to speak to your tutor or advisor about your programme, and if it's right for you. You sound like a lot of the kids I see at uni: not entirely sure yet of what you want to do, and maybe not very confident about asking questions! Talking to your vet about how to get into a career as a vet technician or something sounds like a very good idea to me, and not stupid at all. Similarly, you could call up the RSPCA or similar, and ask if you could volunteer for them for part of the summer, to get some idea of what it would be like to work in that field. I agree with your dad that education is a good thing, and you should always work to continue your education. However, it's also true that college or university aren't always the best place for each person. You should go talk to your tutors asap to help sort out your thoughts. Does your college have a careers centre that you could go to, as well?

Yeah i am not a hundred percent sure what i want to do, but i am starting to think about animals are infact what i am good at, and what i truly want to do!,

i will be speaking to my lecturer on monday see if i can work something out, ,

the college has career guidance and that in there so will see if i can go and speak to them

With regards to volunteer work-i think people are always after volunteers but it does mean working for free so why not try doing that along side your studies to gain experience. If you know 100% you want to leave college and want to work with animals-some vets offer vet nurse apprentaships where you work and gain qualifications on the job(I would look into this properly around your area though) And maybe working to be an instuctor can be something you can work on along side whatever you do over the years eg. doing your BHS stages and then when you get to a high level you may decide its something you want to do full time or maybe along side the job you have for abit of extra cash. But dont make any rash decisions and good luck with whatever you choose to do,

Please don't drop out of college. Get your head down and do as well as you can with your grades- that way you will actually know whether you're bright enough to do physiotherapy / veterinary nursing / whatever you like... as long as you're not really working hard how will you know what you can really achieve??

I don't mean to sound unfriendly but it sounds a bit like you're struggling to keep up with your school work so rather than knuckling down to it you're thinking of 'taking the easy option' by dropping out and working with horses Deep down you must know that isn't the best option for you??
