Hi guys,

I am currently looking at a bit of a change in career. I am quite interested in working within the equestrian industry as it's something I'm interested in and know a bit about.

I am not talking about being a groom (done that!) but more working for a company. Whether it be as a rep, in insurance along those sorts of lines. I have been looking on equine careers but not quite sure where else to try?

Thanks in advance!

Depends what sort of thing you're looking for and where. Ariat for example have jobs at their HQ on the Wilts/Oxon border fairly frequently and they advertise in H&H as do some of the feed companies and others. Might be worth just seeing who and what is local to you if you want to stay in the same location and targetting them directly?

Go to the BETA website and send a spec letter to any company in your area. I got my second job in the industry by doing this. he H&H website also sometimes has vacancies for non-yard jobs.

You'd be best to have some idea which dept. you'd prefer to work in though eg sales/marketing/finance/underwriting etc.

I am quite happy to move, in fact would probably lean towards moving truth be known. I am just looking on H&H now, thanks :)

Great, thank you!

I saw the Jockey Club were looking for a HR person recently, not sure where I saw it advertised though. At least if you went into something like that you could easily move into other industries in the future if you wanted to.

Some equine Insurers were looking for workers in the York area recently. They do seem to advertise quite regularly.

Off the top of my head it was NFU :) and E&L;)

Redwings have an item on their facebook page about their new centre in Scotland and the staff they need. Have also seen BHS seem to have opportunities at times.

Alternatively have you thought about being a field officer for one of the equine charities.

Sign up to the Equine Careers job alerts and trawl through their website. They've got loads of great vacancies at the moment, just none right for me as I'm also sort of job hunting :(
