Where to look for a first horse?

I'm a novice and hoping to get my first horse in the next couple of years. In the meantime I'm enjoying window shopping! So just for fun, where do you guys look for a horse to buy?
I'd be looking for a sound horse (preferably gelding) to hack on, do some very low level dressage, maybe pop a wee jump at home and generally have fun with.
They would have to be ok living out 24/7 but we have stables available if needed.
Around 16hh
No vices etc.
Any ideas of what my rough budget should be?

I try to find one by local recommendation and when i am on the search ask local instructors, farriers, vets and put wanted notices up in the local feed merchants tack shops.
I would suggest a budget of about £8,000 and make sure that you always take someone knowledgeable with you when viewing and get it fully vetted.
