Im looking for a 4 year old horse to bring on for sj, cant find anything and I have up to 10k to spend. If anyone knows of any please let me know.
looking for 15.3hh-16.2hh, well bred and nice looking with a good jump, doesnt matter if its not been out yet.

Hi,
I am sure you will find something if you keep looking! :)
I think the problem that you will have is that the sort of specification that you're after is when horses are generally their most expensive!! If you would consider a younger (unbroken) horse then I think you could get something very smart indeed for your budget. :)
Good Luck!!
ETA: I realise that didn't really answer your question, if I were you I would be inclined to look at unbroken 2yos (remember they are 3 in Jan) from the breeders or studs - or even german/dutch studs too - as I said I think with your budget you would get a very nice horse!!

www.jmsporthorses.co.uk

I bought mine here, very good. Always importing DWB,KWPN, BWP, German, etc
You can get very cheap if you go abroad and check them out, as you are cutting out the middle man.

I have just bought a very smart 3 year old, looking for something that I can get on and go with now, did think about another 3 year old but cant find any of them either :-(

Try Di at www.castleviewstud.com she's got a few in that aren't advertised, including a chestnut 4yr old gelding with a serious amount of jump. He's ready to go out jumping disco's as he's already been jumping BN. I got my mare from her, she's been dead straight and actively followed our progress. They'll be under budget too.

Hi, try www.sdsporthorses.com.

I bought my dressage youngster from there and she is fab. He mainly does SJ's though and if he doesn't have anything you like, you can tell him what you are looking for and he will find it for you, normally Holland, sometimes Germany.

Can't recommend enough really. PM me if you want more info.

Hi we have a smart 16hh 4yo won £145 Bs, won a 1.10m. the most straight forward horse you could wish for. Loads of scope and very careful. Under budget too. PM me if you want any more details.

My boy came indirectly from Summerlees in Kent, as he was pout of a mare they had there and covered there with a young stallion they had at the time!
She often looks to have some very very smart young imported horses, worth a look I'd say.

I second Summerlees, got mine from there and he has been everything they said. They get in a few but dont always have them all on the website, well worth a ring

I bought my horse 12 months ago-as a four year old - through Richard Sheane. Its a lovely straight forward horse wirh a super temperament...

Richard is in Ireland and is a great guy to deal with, he has a fantastic sense of humour and works hard to make your trip enjoyable as well as informative.

He picks you up from(and returns you to) the airport, shows you a variety of horses within your budget and type you are looking for.

I saw loads - any of which I would have been happy to buy...

There is absolutely no pressure to buy.

I was very worried about the whole process but had 'despaired' of looking at horses which did not match the descriptions given - many of which I had travelled a fair distance to see.

I had one of the best days ever and now have an absolute star in the stable!

If you want any more details I can give you hiso contact number and email..
