I've recently moved to Leicestershire, and I don't know many people (if anyone!!)

Having previously loaned a horse from my local riding school, I miss having a horse to ride and look after. Unfortunately I dont have the funds to buy a horse at the moment, so I'm looking for a horse to share.

Does anyone local know where would be a good place to look? Or know anyone looking for a sharer?

Any help, much appreciated!!

Thanks:)

Whereabouts in Leciestershire? It's a big old county;)

If you are round Hinckley, Sharnford Lodge (livery yard and tack shop) has a good size notice board, that might be a good place to start. Also, head down the A5 past Nuneaton, there's a Countrywide so you could put an ad in there too.

Haha, not much point going to Hinckley then:D

I'd grab the Yellow Pages, look up all the local tackshops and feedstores, do yourself a little advert with your experience, the size of horse you would like, whether you can help with costs or care, contact details, whether you can supply a reference etc, makse some copies and spend a morning going round sticking them up on every noticeboard you can find. Good luck finding one:)

Hi and welcome to Leicestershire:) I am fairly local to the Charnwood/Woodhouse Eves area.

Have a look at Charnwood Tails (it comes up if you google it) it's a free mag we pick up at local tack shops and feed merchants.

There are some horses available for loan advertised in there, it also carries ads for local feed stores and tack shops etc.

Thanks for the welcomes :D

I've had a look at the Charnwood Tails website, but there isnt anything suitable online. Will have to wait for the new edition to come out!

I'll make up a advert and post it around my local tack shops over the next few days.

I'm after something 16hh+. Sensible and safe. I'm not fussy about breed or age, just want to gain more experience and have fun!

Welcome to the Shire!!

Why not try looking/placing adverts in:

The Clothes Horse (Syston)
Rearsby Lodge (East Goscote)
Cooks Farm Shop (Newtown Linford)
Milners (John O'Gaunt)
Equestrian Life magazine
Charnwood Tails (as mentioned)
Local shows may also have a notice board- Soar Valley (Quorn), Rearsby Lodge (Brooksby) etc..
Riding Schools (Sure they all have notice boards)- Park View (Anstey), Somerby Equestrian Centre (Somerby!), Brooksby...or search the BHS Website for local livery yards/riding schools nearby...

Or Groups on Facebook such as Horses UK, BHS etc...

Good luck!!!

Thanks for all your advice guys!

I'll try and get round all the local riding schools and tack shops tomorrow morning.

In the meantime, if you hear of anything on the Leicestershire horsey grapevine, or know anyone possibly looking for a share, please let me know :)
