I’ve never employed a freelancer before, I’m looking at going back to diy livery and I’m going to need help in the evenings 5 days a week through winter.
I’ve had a quick search on FB but I’m not seeing much. And I’m sure there must be a few around the area. How do people usually find a groom? Word of mouth?
Frome area if anyone knows anyone.

Have you tried your local tack shop? Are there more liveries on the yard? They may know of someone. Word of mouth normally for me

My best freelancers have come from pro yards. I've usually met them through having horses schooled or riders coached by the pro rider, or having my horses on the pro yard. I always discuss with the pro and make sure everyone is happy for me to offer them extra hours to do mine at home.

I did try to advertise a few times and it was absolutely disastrous. I had two we took on but they weren't reliable, and didn't really get the hard work aspect of horses. I think the freelancers who are working on pro yards tend to be much more committed and professional, and will often also be able to ride for me if I need them to. They are certainly confident and competent in handling the horses.

No fear about working them too hard. Really I only need someone to bring in for me, but to make it worth their while they could muck out x 2 too.

I put a wanted advert up on a local FB page before & had a good response.

I'm currently using a freelancer that's based at the yard after letting it be known I needed some help, so might be worth asking if there's anyone that would bring in for £?

I look at the various Facebook pages that aren’t private and word of mouth but it can be quite difficult. I tend not to use the favour system on yards or pay others on the yard as it can skew relationships on the yard. A freelancer has own insurance too.
