Have got to the point where the 5yo we have may be going back to its owner after christmas, she just needs far more help than her owner and me thought. What with having the pony pts whilst it was out on loan last month and now this one going back my daughter and I are losing the will to live.
So now the search starts again. All I need is something on loan that is safe and sane 15:2ish that can do pc/rc stuff with my 15yo daughter.
I am looking on the pony club website daily, are there any other good websites I can use?

I found that good horses rarely come up for loan and when they do somone gets them pronto! Most are companions and hackers. Also try word of mouth as people are often keen to loan if they know it is going to be local.
Website wise though horsemart and horsequest are best.

Yeah thats what i'm finding also that most people want them to stay at their yard, which I can totally understand but is of no help to me at all.
Didn't realise horsemart and horsequest also had loaning sections

Tell everyone you can think of you are looking - I'd found my loaner before I had even decided whether to loan my horse out or not. He never even made it as far as being advertised, and fingers crossed it has worked out well - dropped him off this morning.

My loaner told everyone she was looking, they told people, and hey presto when I mentioned I was thinking of going abroad for six months, a friend said she knew of someone who was looking for a decent horse. It was so much less hassle for me than having to sift through the thousands of idiots I would doubtless have had ringing up because they quite fancied a nice Novice eventer on loan! I'd always do it this way in future TBH - can't see why you'd need to advertise a good horse, word of mouth should do it.

|There is a website called "RideMyHorse" or something like that,i found it very good when looking for a sharer, and had lots of responses from it.Its free to use and you can put a "wanted ad on there aswell".

I do agree with everyone else though, word of mouth is best way...i advertised everywhere for a sharer, but at the end of the day ended up with someone who heard about him word of mouth.

Good people to get to spread the word are Farriers, vets, local pony club people and people who hunt.

Good luck.

My friend found my girl on an ad that went up in the tack shop that she worked in. It went up that weekend and i tried her on the monday, so agree good horses go quick. Speak to the people at the tack shops, they often know of friends of friends etc...
