Hi All

I know W. Wittering is highly recommended for horse riding but i also understand you cannot park h/boxes in the beach car park, and there used to be a riding school that would let you park there but they no longer do.

Sooooo... we might be heading down there soon and I wondered if anyone could recommend where to park???

Thanks so much!

Try phoning the stables there: Cakeham Manor.
Not sure if you will be allowed to use their car park, but worth a phone call. They also have direct access to the beach so no road work.

we went a year ago and there was a livery yard we contacted (found on internet somewhere) and they charged us £10 to park in their car park. :)

We always park at Bracklesham. It's free off-peak i.e. now and I saw at the weekend that they have instslled some pay machines. Check the Chichester district council website for beach riding rules.

The last time I called the stables (Cakeham) she said the rules had all changed and you now have to pay £20 per rider to park horsebox/trailer there. With such good access to the beach the local council said there was nowhere else.

There was a lorry parked at Bracklesham a couple of weeks ago with two horses riding on he beach. It's getting busy so definitely check the times you are allowed and I'd also pick a day when the weather isn't due to be hot the crowds start arriving at stupid o'clock! I'd also go for a really low tide if you want to go to West Wittering.

Please be careful if you take any dogs with you. I have seen a warning that someone is leaving poisoned sandwiches there.
there is a post in News and in AAD.
