As post states, I am looking to purchase a Hadfield Fancy stitched padded cob size bridle when I am over visiting the UK. Where would I purchase such a bridle. Thanks
No idea. They don't appear to be widely available but Hadfield Bridleworks can be found on the internet, you may need to write to them as they don't have a telephone number listed
Unfortunately, you probably won't find one over here. Alot of the tack makers here, often make lines that are specifically for import to North America for the hunter/jumper market as there are different tastes in tack here than "back home"
I rode hunters in Canada until I moved over here so still like "North American huntery" style tack. My current bridle was a factory second that never made it for export so I was lucky enough to get that from my local tack shop that specializes in odds 'n ends from the Walsall factories. Even my saddle was destined for export (an Ashland CC saddle which are normally sold by Northrun in the US) but was lucky enough to find that as it suits my riding style and fits Hattie.
How bizarre, a fellow transplanted Canadian and I were discussing this just today!
As above, a great deal of tack is made in the UK strictly for export to the US and Canada and many of our well known brands/styles simply don't exist here. Same with a great deal of German and French tack - you'd think it would be much easier to get here but it's not at all. My friend who has just moved has a Childeric, which is almost unknown here, although a few of the other French makes are making inroads. I saw a Crosby PDN, used, in a tack shop the other day and they said they'd never had one in before.
Also, styles differ and show hunter tack here would generally look out of place at Palgrave. (As would show hunters.
)
Some UK manufactured items are cheaper here, even with the exchange, most notably blankets and some items of apparel. You do have to be a bit careful taking things back to Canada, as for whatever reason I find customs even stickier going in that direction.
To be honest, I still do a lot of my horse shopping in Canada!

Me too!! I always stockup on side zip breeches when I go visit my family
I bought a pair of side zip Ariats last year at YHL for £30 from the Classic Collections stand!! They only had one pair and when I asked the lady if they'd get anymore (LOL, especially at that price!), she said no as no one likes the side zips here in the UK so they were getting rid of them
LOL, I said "I do" but I guess my accent kind of gave it away
I got some tan leather bit loops for my full cheek bit last summer in Canada too as you CANNOT find that color over here in them so I stocked up on them too
