Does anyone know of any decent trekking centres etc in the Yorkshire / Northumberland / Cumbria / Borders area where I could have a fun hack out on a Fell pony? Not a nose to tail plod, a proper ride to get some idea of what Fells are like.

Failing that I may have to steal my eleven year old neighbour's Fell and joy ride round the village when she's back at school...

Speak to Nicola Evans, she is near Kendal and sometimes looks for people to ride her fells, she is not a RS, just has lots of fells and does conservation grazing
I had come across them (and like the look of her ponies) - I had thought it would be really nice to visit but I assume she's very busy and didn't want to take up too much of her time....I'll drop her an email expressing interest in the breed and see what she says. Thanks!

(I've been thinking that a Fell might be a good bet for a small sturdy hacking pony when my current horse retires - just sounding out the viability of the idea really)

We spoke to Nicola when we started looking for a Fell and she was really helpful and nice, we ended up buying a youngster somewhere else but still follow her on fb just because it's very tempting to have two Fell ponies! She has some lovely ponies.
