Hi, I am hoping to take my horses to a beach in a couple of weeks for a good leg stretch. Going from Chester area so can anyone recommend any good places to go? I went to Talacre once and that was great but not sure if you can still go on there.
Thanks very much.

I used to ride on the beach at West kirby, we used to go there early on a Sunday morning and park the car/trailer in the public car park across the road from the marina lake.

Ainsdale is probably your best bet - park on the beach and straight onto miles of good firm sand.

You can go to Formby point but you have to pay to park there and have to hack through hordes of kiddies and kites before you get to the gallopy bits

Hi... there's often people riding on the beach at Ainsdale. You can park your box or trailer on the beach... you leave the Coast Road at the Pontins roundabout. You may be able to park up for free at the moment as they often don't have anyone collecting car parking monies at this time of year.

It's quite busy with kites and I think the land yachting is on this weekend so may not be great if you've got a spooky horse... loads of room for everyone though

ooo Ainsdale sounds good, it would be weekend after next when going (the kite surfing does sound a bit scary as i'm anticipating stopping troubles anyway). Does you have to go for certain tide times there?

another one for ainsdale. when you get there the kites are normally in one direction and horses go in the other so you should be fine. check the tides tho....as not much space for riding if they are in! but loads if they are out!!

West Kirby beach is good - park on prom at Hoylake (for free) and then hack around Red Rocks point to West Kirby and gallop back. If the tide is right out you can even ride to Hilbre Island but you need to keep to strict route for that - start from marine lake at West Kirby and head to Little Eye (smallest island on left as you look out to Wales) then ride around back of Island to Hilbre- just make sure you do it with plenty of time before tide turns. If you get it right it is the most brilliant ride and probably a lot quieter then Formby or Ainsdale. Enjoy where ever you go.

The light house up at Moreton is a great starting point!!... Go past the typhoo plant on the right, at the bend in the road, turn left towards the lighthouse and park at the end.

Lack of kite flyers as well!
