Where to sell my saddle?

Where do you all sell your second hand saddles? I've had a Fairfax dressage saddle with the saddle bank now for 18 months - it's in excellent condition but they have about 7 more of the exact same saddle! I also then sent my Bliss Loxley jump saddle to them in November which has been on trial a couple of times but particularly the dressage saddle I just want sold as it doesn't fit my current horse so I've not used it for 2 years and I'd only had it about a year! Not sure if to move it somehwere else? They have been on Marketplace and Ebay to no avail.
 
I will watch this thread as I have been trying to sell mine as well. Mine is a Barnsby VSD and none of the selling sites are interested as it’s not one of the popular makes… I’m almost at the stage of giving it away as I’m moving and really don’t want to take it with me .. it’s a shame because it’s been well looked after and only used for 2 years ….

Will the Saddle bank not take it? Where have you advertised yours? I know what you mean - I have a good chunk of money sat in mine at the moment that I'd like back! My jump saddle has only been used for hacking about 6 times so almost brand new!
 
You have my sympathy, it's been a nightmare for the past few years and I think it's only getting worse. I have sold several saddles in the last three years but none of them were valuable - we're talking £150 to £400. I sold those via local second hand tack shops.

You've probably already tried this but as well as listing on FB Marketplace, have you tried joining specific groups with names like "Fairfax saddles UK only"? Sometimes those groups can get you in touch with exactly the right people who want what you're selling. You'll probably have to accept making a substantial loss on them though, which is rubbish.
 
I've tried both saddles direct and sheepham saddles recently who both took saddles to sell on commision....but no luck for over a year. I was in no particular rush!.

I left both listed on ebay and eventually sold both through eBay for a reasonable price (£900-£1000). Only a little less than I would have got after commission from the saddle banks.

The popular/fashionable makes/models in standard sizes/widths will sell, but anything outside this is much tougher.
 
I sold one recently via the Saddlebank. An Equipe; but have an Albion dressage with them which isn't shifting despite it being pretty new. Hoping Spring will bring back the buyers.

People seem to want a lot for very little these days.
I have another 5 saddles that I really should sell but can't be bothered 😕
I know one will sell easily (Inky Dinky never used as grandson has no interest) so will go FB and eBay routes once weather improves.

They wouldn't buy my Albion GP, only sell it on commission and a friend had a similar experience with her Bates. If they're a popular make and there are lots on the market, this is the way they seem to go. I suspect that might be the case here if they already have quite a few for sale.

No, nor sheepham saddles and another one which I can’t remember. Have tried locally , told my local saddle fitter, Facebook a few different horsey groups . I’ve avoided marketplace it went on there accidentally and i got a lot of replies offering me the full asking price and saying they would collect, however on checking their profiles a couple of them lived in Turkey and one of them got quite aggressive in his posts and it scared me so I won’t do marketplace for something that needs collecting.
 
I've just sold 2 dressage saddles to the saddle bank - a Fairfax and a Ryder. Got less than if they sold them for commission, but I just wanted them gone, and didn't want to risk them hanging around for months. They also paid for the courier, so it was all very easy and quick. In the past I've sold a couple of AH saddles by advertising them on either eBay or Berkshire Horse & Pony. Got a scammer on one of them, but it was so easy to spot I never got close to giving my details.
 
If the price is right, someone will buy it. I’ve noticed anything bigger than 17.5 doesn’t shift quickly (not that I’ve had anything this size!).

I’ve sold two on eBay in the last 2 months within days of putting them up, both for more than I bought them for. I find taking “pretty” photos helps - daylight in the garden against a nice flower bed, nice room in the house, etc. you could share the listing to see if we can give you some pointers on what’s putting people off?

They aren't cheap which is probably the problem. My dressage is up for £1200 and my jump for £2000 but both prices are cheaper than what my saddle fitter said they are worth/should be able to get for them

I just had a quick look on eBay and there are a lot of Fairfax dressage saddles on there for much less than £1200. I don’t know much about Fairfax dressage models so I appreciate yours might be nicer spec or worth more but I think most people will just see a saddle that’s more expensive than a lot of others. People aren’t spending daft money like they could a few years ago!

I’d be tempted to knock a couple of hundred off them both and see if you get any takers?
 
I think you need to take slightly less than the going rate eg if you are told £1200 and that's what comaprible saddles are advertised for I would take £1000

I think this does seem to be the problem with the more expensive saddles. they amount of people that seem to struggle to shift saddles is wild! if i was a cheap wintec, it would go in seconds :(
