Where were the spectators ??. RWHS report H & H

We went on the Sunday to watch the GP - and I made sure we got there in loads of time excepting to have to queue a bit to get into the stands - but there were lods of spaces. Very different from last year where they were full. I do know friends who didnt go as there was no evening SJ this year.

Have been in the past and found it impossible to get a seat.
But ticket prices have gone up,
No Sunday evening performance with firework finale,
Cost of tranport gone up, esp fuel if you have to drive,
Very hot weather, means hard work carrying a picnic
Cost of refreshments at shows is high.

People may be cutting back at expenses for a day out.

FLyer and ticket offer arrived by post only two days before the show opened!

I also used to go every year but the itinery just didn't appeal this year, especially as I go with a couple of friends who are more into dressage. The jumping programme didn't look appealing and no evening performances.

I was there on the Sunday and the stands were so packed that I had to perch at the top of the steps to watch the Whitakers.
I think it depends where the picture was taken. There were stands for the public which were heaving but on the opposite side, were the royal boxes and VIP Areas which wern't busy at all. The pictures you saw may have been of those seats.
