My sister bought me a lovely Stubben bridle for my 21st birthday. I love it, but its such an unusual colour that im not sure where i'll get a saddle to match.
He's on loan at the moment, and he'll be back in august when i plan to get him his first big boy saddle (he'll be 5 this year!! :o) Anyway, so, excusing the mismatched tack.. it was just a cheap crappy saddle that i used to back him and the bridle isnt fitted properly as i just wanted to see what it looked like..the bridle he has on is the Stubben, but where the hell am i going to find a saddle to match?!

It's gorgeous. Really glad you were able to loan him as well that's great news.

I don't like brown tack but I love that shade, similar to the Rambo Micklem I think.

I seem to think that John Whittaker do a similar colour to that, I have a head colour and leather brushing boots that are in that shade, so they might do a saddle to match, worth a look. Just an idea not sure.

I wondered about that but the samples seemed to show havana with white stitching and the bridle pictured appears to have self coloured stitching

edited to add: Cross posted and I'm wrong :D

John Whitaker - my JW saddle have is basically the same or poss a bit darker but JW definitely do that colour (just a shame it doesn't fit my horse anymore!)

I have a Morris & Nolan saddle that is that rich colour. I will also be selling it if it doesn't fit my Dales youngster - it's a medium and I assume he will get wider.

Closest might be light havana or Australian Nut, any bench made saddle company (ie hand made, not production line) should be able to find you a good match. Mind you with an Appy finding a saddle to fit may be the challenge!

We have several of these stubborn bridles and they go dark brown after they have been oiled a couple of times..if you want to keep it lighter then stick to only using stubben hamanol to feed it.. we have matching stubborn msf saddles as they are fab for safe hunting days and don't make the backs sore like my expensive albions did..
