where would you look for a new best friend?

Thanks for all the replies, I actually caught my husband looking at Norfolk greyhound rescue yesterday ( I wasn't sure he really wanted another dog!) I know it might be a wait but I think I'll see if an ex sniffer comes up through eldest's work, though I might in the meantime let the gun dog trainer we got fred from know we're looking for another.

Can I just say that we recently put feelers out to adopt a little dog from a local rescue. I made the application at 8.00pm one evening, and was contacted at 10.00am the next morning to arrange a home check. For reasons that I won't go in to we didn't proceed. But I was amazed at how quickly (for us) the wheels were put in motion. This is well established organisation who don't home to just anyone.

So perhaps it's not as difficult as it seems, for the right applicant.

Another positive story from me, we applied as soon as her post went live, were contacted the next day, were asked to come to the rescue twice to meet her, successful home check / proof of ID and address and brought her home within a week I think of initial contact. Good rescues are out there! I think there are a few HHOers who have dogs from the same organisation.

And Rex is coming to live with us on the 31st, he's bit over weight (being re-homed due to his owners ill health) so a slow work up on getting the weight off and getting him fit, but first he needs vaccinations, I don't have any pictures yet, so you'll have to wait until new years eve.
How amazing is this! What colour is he? I’m very keen on springers, funnily!

Thanks all, he's a liver and white, with lovely spotty front legs,he seems a really lovely soul who just wants to please, he's only 4 years old, but his lovely owner recognised she couldn't look after him properly due to her health and just wanted the best possible home for him, I've registered him with my vet and will book his vacs for as soon as they open in the new year
