And as you clear out the abandoned feed out the manger, your hand grips onto a very dead, partially chewed mouse .

Manger (it is wall mounted) has been thoroughly cleaned out now. Mare hadn’t given any indication that anything untoward had happened. She had eaten most of the feed, too.

Now I’m wondering, was mousie already dead when I tipped the feed in this morning, or not?

Erghh. I will be checking mangers very carefully for unauthorised intruders in the future before use. Not sure if it had dropped in from above or scrambled up the wall to get in, but once in, the sides would have been be too high for it to get out.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwww! Nope. Just nope.

I found a half squashed frog in the field a few weeks ago. Very recently trampled. ? Had to get MrPF out of the house to deal with that. Payback for all the spiders I have to escort out of the house...

I found a squashed mouse in a bag of Hi Fi about 12 months ago. They sent me vouchers for a replacement bag.

Poo picking at the weekend I found a dead hedgehog in the field. Picked it up with the scoop and put it in the wheelbarrow. OH arrived so I stopped and wondered over to speak to him. OH pointed at Robin and said 'whats he doing?' he'd pinched the hedgehog out of the wheelbarrow and was waving it around running round the field playing with it. Poor hedgehog!

One of my lot killed a large goose that invaded her field a few years ago. I examined the body, and decided to let nature take it's course, as I had no idea what to do with it if I removed it! The body vanished overnight!

I once found the hind half of a mouse in the manger - I can only assume brave rodent tried to steal feed, horse wasn't in the mood for sharing! Bowl otherwise licked clean, as normal.
